Here we have the perfect item for your long term Land Rover restoration project - a Land Rover birds nest. Part number NTC9999. This birds nest will fit Land Rover Series 2, 2A and 3, 4 and 6 cylinder models 1958-84. It will NOT fit the 109V8 or Defender as there is insufficient space behind the radiator grille. These require a different, smaller birds nest which I do not have, so please don't ask. It may fit Series 1 with some modifications.
Please note that this is a top quality OEM specification birds nest, not to be confused with the cheap pattern nests available from some suppliers. The cheap nests require a lot of modification to fit the front crossmember and are made of inferior materials.
This nest should also not be confused with the very similar-looking item behind your dash panel. That is the wiring loom. It may be possible to use this birds nest to replace your wiring loom, but I have not tried it. To be honest, you probably stand more chance of getting all your lights to work by connecting them to this birds nest , than trying to use the Land Rover wiring loom.
The Land Rover birds nest is believed to have been used by Land Rover dealers to indicate vehicles which had been in the workshop awaiting attention for a long period. The popularity of the birds nest peaked under British Leyland ownership in the late 1970s, when the nests were in such demand that the suppliers could not keep up. The birds nest system was finally abandoned after the introduction in 1986 of the '19J' turbodiesel, as it proved impossible to ship birds nests to dealers fast enough to cope with the huge number of broken TDs which needed them.
Pickup only from Thetford as this item is much too fragile to post. See my other auction items for more bargains. Payment by Paypal only on this item. All sale proceeds go to the Countryside Restoration Trust.

If bidding reaches a respectable level (double figures, say) he will be happy for the winning bidder to collect the nest from the Countryside Restoration Trust headquarters just outside Cambridge and be given a guided tour of the farm there to see some of the very many conservation projects in progress.
