Land Rover Series One 80 inch Description Registered 20 September 1952, vehicle no. 36100379. Registration number JCY 125. Good honest condition all round with brand new 12 month MoT (8 October 2010) and 12 months free historic vehicle tax. Fitted with a 1951 1600 cc petrol engine with an electric fuel pump. Runs and pulls well. Gearboxes work well. No jumping out of gear or unpleasant noises. Axles fine with good condition chrome swivels. Brakes work fine and complete with original master cylinder and reservoir. Rare 1948/9 Series One steering wheel in excellent condition . Four 1952/1953 date stamped wheels (date stamp of fifth not clear). Four very recent matching 600x16 tyres (tread pattern similar to Firestone SAT). Original older type steering box. Recent fuel tank and guard. Chassis is in good solid condition. No welding was required to the chassis for the recent MOT. Appears to have been a replacement because it is a type suitable for either left or right hand drive which would probably not have been fitted to the vehicle when new. Rear off-side leaf spring rather flatter than others, but usable. Other 3 are all good and fairly recent. Bulkhead good. A couple of patches as you might expect, done professionally by the garage this week for the MOT. Bodywork is in good condition. The doors, front wings and bonnet are very good and straight. Rear body shows more age related wear, but still better than most. Front panel is the steel type. Original perspex windows in upper doors. Proper Lucas rear D lights. Seats in good condition, and of correct type for year. Spare wheel clamp missing, but replacements are easily available. All ‘dashboard’ dials operate correctly. Mileometer reads 37,125, can’t prove its genuine but old MoT’s support it. Nicely weathered canvas tilt with a few very small holes in the rear roof. All tilt sticks present and correct with new horizontal pieces. Old Tax disks / logbook point to a ‘life’ on the Isle of Wight and Mayfair. Previously supplied by Dunsfold Land Rover.
