Lancia Appia Series 2 1957 1098cc
The Lancia Appia arrived in 1953 and had many styling elements from its big brother the Aurelia B10.
It has a ultra- compact engine positioned at a narrow-angle of just 10 degrees. The V4 unit displaced 1098cc and the inclined overhead-valves were set in hemispherical combustion chambers and operated by twin camshafts in the block. The Appia had a unitary- construction with a sliding pillar independent suspension.
The series 2 Appia rides on a longer wheelbase and was given a slightly more powerful engine, rated at 43bhp.
During the 1950’s Lancia was creating their most beautiful automobiles ever, these cars were notable for being much more advanced than their competition due to their unitary bodywork construction. The Appia is much less complex than other Lancia model’s of its time.
The Lancia Appia was designed by Gianni Lancia and was the replacement for the Ardea. The Appia was the last small rear wheel drive Lancia to be made before the front wheel drive Fulvia was launched.
This Appia is one of only 12 series 2 in the UK
It is in its original Lancia Dark Blue which is in very good condition bar for a small rust spot around window( see pics)
The interior is red vinyl which was redone at some stage but is correct for the Appia since it was a export car to South Africa in the late 50’s
Mechanically the car is very sound with all original drive train and a new Stainless exhaust.
I imported the Appia earlier this year from South Africa were it spent its whole life.
The Appia has had Lancia enthusiast owners all it’s life and has been very well looked after
