BOSCH LAMBDA SENSOR

100% GENUINE ORIGINAL BOSCH OXYGEN SENSOR

Enhanced engine power and lower fuel consumption!

Bosch is the world's market leader in OEM and aftermarket. In both the automotive OEM and aftermarket sectors it is Bosch lambda sensors that are used most often. Since inventing the Lambda sensor in 1976 and have continuously enhancing it ever since. All new cars produced in Europe are fitted with at least two Lambda sensors.

What is a Lambda Sensor and what does it do?

A lambda sensor (also known as an exhaust gas oxygen sensor/probe) is an electronic device that measures the proportion of un-burnt oxygen (O2) in the exhaust gases.

It was invented by Robert Bosch GmbH in 1976 and is the key sensor in determining the air-to-fuel ratio on modern engines.

Lambda sensors produce a voltage signal that recognises the amount of un-burnt oxygen in the exhaust gases. It sends this signal to the engine management system which uses this signal together with information supplied from other sources to determine the correct air-to-fuel ratio.

The air-to-fuel ratio is extremely important to a combustion engine and directly effects the amount of engine power, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

With the Lambda sensor playing such an important role, it is therefore essential that the sensor is working perfectly all the time to maintain the correct level of engine performance, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Why Bosch Lambda Sensors are the No.1 in the World

  • They comply 100% with the vehicle manufacturers specifications.

  • They are supplied with the original connector which fits perfectly into the vehicle.

  • Each sensor is tested before it is delivered.

  • They are ready for operation quickly through rapid heating up.

  • They have a high service life through enclosing the sensor element in a platinum mesh and patented double protective coating.

Advantages of fitting a new Bosch Lambda Sensor:

  • Serves to optimise fuel consumption, engine output, driving properties and ensures emission levels are low.

  • Up to 15% lower fuel consumption in comparison to a significantly aged or faulty lambda sensor.

  • Enhanced engine performance and power

  • Prevents any possible damage to the catalytic converter and passes strict emission tests

Replacement Intervals and symptoms of a failing lambda sensor:

Regularly checking and replacing the lambda sensor is well worth the effort as their service life can be drastically reduced by contamination and certain atmospheric conditions.

The lambda sensor must work properly in order to comply with emission limits and reduce fuel consumption. This means it should be checked every 20,000 miles and be replaced when necessary or when the recommended replacement interval has been reached.

Bosch recommend that lambda sensors are replaced at the following service intervals but please refer to the fitting guide below for the exact service interval on your vehicle.

  • Unheated: Every 30,000 miles

  • Heated 1st generation: Every 60,000 miles

  • Heated 2nd generation: Every 100,000 miles

  • Planar sensors: Every 100,000 miles

Symptoms of a failing lambda sensor includes:

  • Increased tailpipe (exhaust) emissions

  • Increased fuel consumption

  • Hesitation on acceleration

  • Stalling

  • Rough idling

  • Engine management light on dash

Another common cause of premature failure of lambda probes is contamination of fuel with silicones (used in some sealings and greases) or silicates (used as corrosion inhibitors in some antifreezes). In this case, the deposits on the sensor are coloured between shiny white and grainy light grey.

Leaks of oil into the engine may cover the probe tip with an oily black deposit, with associated loss of response. An overly rich mixture causes build-up of black powdery deposit on the probe. This may be caused by failure of the probe itself, or by a problem elsewhere in the fuel rationing system.

Only if your lambda sensor is working perfectly will your engine will be able to operate to its full performance capacity and reach the emission limits!

BOSCH Lambda Sensor Fitting Guide & Tips

It is recommended that you use a professional mechanic to replace a lambda sensor, however they are fairly easy to change by yourself and here are some handy tips:

Remove protection cap from sensor just prior to installation

Install sensor body ensuring lead is not twisted, crushed or bent

For M18 sensors install finer tight then 1/2~3/4 turn with a wrench (35~45Nm)

For M12 sensors install finer tight then 3/4~1 turn with a wrench (18~23Nm)

Then connect and route lead wire as originally installed

Do not allow lead wire to touch exhaust manifold or any other hot component

Do not apply any substances such as oil or grease to the connector or sensor

If in any doubt at all please consult a professional mechanic

 BOSCH OFFICIAL FITTING GUIDE

PLEASE CHECK CAREFULLY THAT THE FITMENT OF THIS LAMBDA SENSOR EXACTLY MATCHES THE SPECIFICATION OF YOUR VEHICLE INCLUDING THE CHASSIS/BUILD NUMBER, ENGINE CODE AND YEAR.

SPECIFICATION OF MODELS/ENGINES CAN VARY DEPENDING ON A HUGE VARIETY OF FACTORS SO YOU MUST ENSURE YOU ARE BUYING THE CORRECT SENSOR FOR YOUR ENGINE. WE DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT SPECIFICATION OF YOUR ENGINE SO ITS UP TO YOU TO CHECK THAT THE FITTING DATA BELOW EXACTLY MATCHES YOUR CAR AND THAT THE LAMBDA SPECIFICATION IS THE SAME AS FITTED.
