Cottage Farm is a small, family-run farm, managed in a very traditional way.
Our Suffolk lambs have a wonderful life. From birth to maturity, they live naturally on their mums’ milk and fresh grass, grazing peacefully on the natural pasture of North Cornwall.
Sheep skins vary tremendously – by breed, by condition and by season. All our sheep skins are from 8-12 months old animals, rather than the more usual 4-8 months. This results in the pile being that much longer and truly luxurious. Typically, our sheep skins have a pile of 31/2 inches (9cm) or more, compared to the more usual 1.5-2 inches (4-5cm). But we can find skins with shorter pile, if that what you need.
The skins are cleaned and processed by a local specialist company to be beautifully soft and elastic to touch.
The sheep skins are typically 100 cm (40 inches) long by 80 cm (30inches) wide, however, it is a natural product, each is different and unique. Therefore the size also varies somewhat.
