First of all, I'm pleased that Lyle Lovett invited Randy Newman on stage performing three of his songs. Next I was thrilled to hear Lovett doing everything from movie theme songs to convincing gospel. It really swings. He just stands there on the stage, solid as a cool rock, supported by a great band, orchestra and 4-piece choir, and smoothly knock everyones socks off with his singing! Apart from his own 'If I had a boat' the Newman songs 'Political Science' and 'I Think it's going to rain today' two gospel songs still lingers in my head and body: 'Church' and 'I'm going to wait'. Everyone there went out on the ocean upon Lyle's boat riding through them songs and movies. I should have been there!
