LPG (CALOR GAS) GENERATOR - CLARKE CP2000D

The photograph is of the smaller 3.5bhp 1.5kva model but externally they look pretty much identical. The CP2000D uses a Honda GC160 4.9bhp OHC engine with a generator output of 2kva. The generator offered has an Edge Technology LPG (Calor) conversion (which cost almost as much as the original generator !!) This allows the unit to run more cleanly and for about 24hrs on a 19kg Calor cylinder instead of just 2hrs on petrol. It has a single 220/240v output socket.

Running on Calor gas has many advantages (cost, toxic emissions, engine life etc) but I have found a certain knack is required to start them from cold (although Edge Technology disagree !) I never had a problem starting it but it wasn't as instant as petrol.

The generator has run for less than 15hrs and consequently is not even run in. It has been stored in a dry outside housing with a permanent electrical connection to the house. It was bought to give a back up power source to the house as we live in a rural area. Due to ill health it has not been run for about 2 years as it was replaced with a 5kva electric start diesel one. Due to my health I cannot test it and I can give no guarantee that it will start easily although last time it ran it was all fine. I understand Honda engines are pretty bomb proof.

I am unable to satisfactorily package it for transport, therefore it is offered for collection only from my house between Maidstone and Sittingbourne.
