YOURS SINCERELY MABEL PEACOCK, LETTERS FROM MABEL PEACOCK TO JOHN OSTLER NICHOLSON 1893-1915. Published by Old Chapel Lane Books, Burgh le Marsh Lincs.,2001. 40 pages, 4 illustrations, A 5 size. Mabel Peacock was the daughter of Edward Peacock of Bottesford. In later life they lived at Kirton Lindsey. John Ostler Nicholson lived at Staniwells near Hibaldstow but retired to Bridlington. The letters cover a wide variety of subjects, Lincolnshire Bagpipes, politics, wild cats, local events etc. Mable Peacock wrote dialect poems and stories and with Mrs Gutch edited the 'County Folklore' volume for Lincolnshire. |
