How Your Journal is Made | About Me




This book will be made by hand by Samantha and Jason at Earthworks. We are a small, two person business and we have been making individually crafted items together for over a decade.

Bound in real leather this journal has a hand tooled Moon Goddess design with a beautiful antiqued finish.

The Goddess represents the divine feminine in the landscape. She can be depicted as a maiden, mother or crone, the three aspects of woman. These aspects are often represented by the three phases of the moon, waxing, full and waning, which we have incorporated into our design. Her arms are raised to form an unbroken circle representing the eternal cycle of nature. In many cultures the Goddess is associated with nature, fertility and the harvest. Woodland groves, springs and streams are particularly sacred to her.

It is 17cm x 12cm x 4cm (6.75 x 4.74 x 1.5 inches) and contains approximately 300 pages (600 sides) of A6 sized, recycled, paper. The pages in this book are permanently bound

The paper that we use is a natural, off-white, oatmeal colour with faint flecks. It has a matt appearance and is slightly textured. It takes a fountain pen without 'bleeding' and is a good mid-tone for sketching.
It is 100% recycled from partly de-inked, post consumer waste and has achieved both the Nordic Swan and Blue Angel awards for high environmental standards. It is also classified as DIN 6738, which means that it will last for several hundred years. This is great if you're planning on leaving your words for future generations.

The photograph shows the unique waxed cord binding and the cord fastening with leather beads.

It makes a wonderful journal; diary; grimoire; sketchbook; etc.

This is the earthy alternative to the mass produced books generally available. This makes a unique gift and is the perfect size to take on your travels.

As leather is a natural material the tone and grain of each journal may vary from the image shown.
