Karen Hill Tribe Silver
In the early 1960`s  , as part of a royal project, silver experts  imparted their knowledge of jewellery to the farmers of the Karen Hill Tribe in Thailand to help them develop an alternative to their traditional cash crop of opium.
The first generation of Karen silversmiths was taught to carefully hand craft each design from scratch , using high silver content (approx. 97-99% silver), they have passed down the generations their silverworking skills and traditions , each item purchased is a unique hand crafted piece which not only helps to preserve their timeless culture ,  art and religion ,but also to provide a stable alternative economy for the Karen people.
