LARGE JANE SPENCER ABSTRACT PAINTING ACRYLIC ON CANVAS

THIS IS A LARGE ACRYLIC ABSTRACT PAINTING ON CANVAS BY THE LATE ACCLAIMED ARTIST JANE SPENCER.IT IS VERY MESMERISING TO LOOK AT AND REMINDS ME OF A GAS NEBULA IN SPACE AND THE SEPERATE MIDDLE SECTION GIVES IT ANOTHER DIMENSION THAT DOES MAKE YOU "PAUSE FOR THOUGHT". "I have not found out any history apart from what is revealed by the two numbers on the back of the painting. The painting started life in 2002 as “In Transit 2”, and was described as being of ‘Acrylic and metal leaf on canvas’. It was one of a small number that Jane painted at that time which used a silvery metal leaf finish, which in this case was on the central, raised, part of the painting. She obviously felt that result was not what she was aiming for, so at a later stage that year, she removed the metal leaf, and overpainted the central part, leaving the rest exactly as before, and re-named it “Pause for Thought” , which may have been a personal reference to the fact that she had had second thoughts! (Jane in common with many painters, quite frequently re-worked paintings)".
