8 Day Oak Cased Clock by Gilbert
Here we have a really beautiful clock that is of a size rarely found. It is 26" wide and 12" high and so would be ideal for a large mantelpiece or sideboard.
The clock was made in Connecticut, America by the well known maker 'Gilbert'. The case is of medium coloured oak with a very pleasing grain. The cream coloured dial is in excellent condition and the brass bezel is not pitted or tarnished.
The movement is very clean and runs well. It strikes the number of hours with a bing/bong and then a single strike on the half hour.
There is a silver plate on the front stating that it was presented to 'Frank & Lillian on the 2-4-32'. This could be removed if desired as it is only held on with 4 very small pins but it seems a shame as it is part of the history of the clock.
We have put collection only as we would not like to trust it to Royal Mail but if anyone really wanted to we would obtain a price for insured delivery.
Thank you for looking.
