The Kristal XL-004 Electric Reel

This is a VERY serious piece of equipment. Think about this...If you never take the rod out of the rod holder when you are reeling up a fish with an electric reel...why buy a separate Deep Drop Rod..????? This reel will crank up whatever you got the nerve to stay with. The changeable spools make for a rapid line change. We use 100 - 400 pound Spectra or Dyneema braid. You can find that braid elsewhere in our store. This reel is the next step up from the XL-001 and the XL-003. The XL-004 adds variable speed to the mix. Why would you want variable speed. These reels bring your line up at 5 feet per second.. You have to be very quick on the trigger to stop right at the top at that speed. Being able to slow that rate the line is coming in makes for a much smoother transaction when the fish gets near the surface. The XL004 also has the added emergency stop button. That can be pretty dang important if someone has screwed up and has a hook in the hand. Make sure all your knots and connectors are good because this reel will break all of it... if it can be broken.
