I am selling my trusty Kowa TS 611 birdwatching spotting scope (no tripod supplied) as I need to raise funds for an astronomical telescope.
This is a used and much loved item and does show some signs of wear on the body casing (see the pics) which are purely cosmetic and do not affect the scope either optically or mechanically - just show it has been used by someone who once did a fair bit of birding!
Optically it is still as good as the day I bought it and performs well either for terrestrial use or for some star gazing - I have seen the rings on Saturn, the main bands on Jupiter and the Andromeda Galaxy M51 with this telescope - possibly also as a shooting guide scope?
It is 'made in Japan' and has a reference 110029 on the small label on the underside.
The retractable rain shield is still in perfect order and the focusing smooth and sharp. The objective lens is 60mm and the cover is the original screw on type and comes with the scope. I think I have the eyepiece end cover and will try and source this before the sale end date.
The tripod bush mount is in perfect order.
The eyepiece is is perfect working order and is an original Kowa bayonet fit 30x unit which I understood was considered the ideal match with the objective when I bought it. It has on it codes which suggest it is suitable for 60mm and 77mm scopes and is also 'made in Japan'. Not sure if this makes a difference but I do know that most astro scopes are now made in China.
