Kowa 663ED Prominar Spotting Scope

For sale I have my Kowa 663 ED spotting scope complete with 20x wide-angle eyepiece. I have had this ‘scope from new having purchased it from In-Focus at Martin Mere, Lancs. I have the original box and documents.

Although the ‘scope is used, it has only had intermittent light use and is in “as new” condition. I also purchased the skua stay-on case with the ‘scope and this has always been left on. In addition, the front lens element has always had a UV filter fitted and although the filter has one or two marks (which do not affect the image) the front element of the 'scope is pristine.

For those not familiar with Kowa spotting ‘scopes, the ED range (Prominar) is Kowa’s flagship series and is equipped with extra low dispersion glass. Other manufacturers call it fluorite or aprochromatic but it all adds up to pretty much the same thing. In essence this type of glass produces brighter, clearer images that are almost entirely free of colour fringing. If you are going to use your ‘scope for digiscoping, this type of glass is pretty much essential.

This type of optical equipment is not cheap and this combination of scope, eyepiece and stay-on case currently costs £927 (price checked at WarehouseExpress.com on  Monday, 2nd November)

I have not taken off the case for the photos. This is because the skua case fits like a glove – literally – and it is very difficult to put on and take off. However, if you wish to see the ‘scope without the case please contact me and I will do my best to “undress” it and send a photo.

Finally, the only reason that I am selling this ‘scope is because I have recently purchased a larger 82mm ‘scope.
