Up for the auction is a roll of Kodak Professional Tri-X400 Black and White film in 116 format. This film is 70 mm wide. It can be used in vintage cameras with picture size area 2 ½ x4 ¼”, 2 1/2x2 7/8” and 2½x2¼”, using 116 format spools. This film format was used in Kodak vintage cameras. This film was discontinued long ago. Now you can use your grandfather camera again and get dramatic results. You cam make 8, 12 or 16 pictures of the above shown sizes, depending on a camera model. Then you can scan your pictures. I am using for this purpose long film rolls for professional cameras which is 70 mm wide. The film is dated 05/2006 and was kept in a fridge. Spools of 116 and 616 format have the size of 71.4 mm between flanges. I can also respool Ilford HP5 Plus aerial Black and White Perforated 70 mm film, which fits perfectly onto 116 and 616 format cameras. Perforation will be out of picture area. I can also respool Agfacolor Portrait XPS160 film or Kodak Portra 160NC film. I can also respool 616 format film. If you have spools and need the 616 or 116 film, send me a spool and I shall respool it. 616 has a film of the same size as 116, but a spool has smaller flanges.
I have noticed lately that a backing paper is light tight to an ordinary electric light, but there was some leakage of light when I tried to look through it at electric flash. I corrected the problem by applying additional layers of black paint onto a backing paper. If item is bought for buy it now price, I would use for respooling of this item an original backing paper from outdated panchromatic super XX film. I would use a spool and backing paper and discard an outdated film.
I can propose a barter deal: If you could send me 4 116 or 616 spools, I would send you 1 roll of film and pay the postage. I can also respool 828, 126, 127, 121 and 620 format film, or I can slit 35 mm film to 21 mm wide film to fit KGB spy camera F-21, or slit it to 16 mm wide film to fit Russian “Narciss”, Czech Meopta, or a Russian KGB Zakhod cameras. Thank you.
