KYB GUIDE TO COIL SPRING REPLACEMENT

Coil springs support a vehicles weight and absorb the impact of the road conditions. The vehicle shock absorbers work to regulate the movement of the spring. Together they make up the vehicles suspension system which keeps the tyres on contact with the road. Gradual fatigue and corrosion results in gradual wear of coil springs. They will become weaker and over time will shorten and even snap. Worn springs will begin to compromise the safety of the vehicle, contributing to longer braking distances, reduced roadholding ability,  increased tyre wear and less responsive steering

KYB MANUFACTURE

Hot and cold coiling technology is used to produce KYB K-Flex springs. A carefully controlled shot-peening process significantly increases the fatigue life of the spring. All K-Flex coil springs are phosphate coated prior to receiving an epoxy powder coating. This process guarantees a tough, durable finish with enhanced corrosion resistance properties.

KYB SPRING FITMENT

Coil springs should always be fitted in pairs to ensure an even ride height and to avoid any pulling to one side when braking. Shock absorbers should also be changed at the same time so that the vehicles suspension is restored to how the manufacturer intended.
