ZUM WERK:
Das Buch wurde von Kaiser Maximilian I. (1459-1519) in der Tradition des späthöfischen Versromanes zum Ruhm des Rittertums und seiner Dynastie entworfen. Es stellt eine Allegorie auf seine Brautfahrt zu Maria von Burgund dar. Die eigens dafür geschaffene Drucktype ahmt eine deutsche Kanzleischrift nach. Nur die erste und zweite Ausgabe von 1517 und 1519 sind in dieser Art gedruckt, so dass es ausgeschlossen ist, dass dieses Blatt aus einer der späteren zahlreichen Ausgaben stammt.

Der Drucktyp ist einmalig in der Geschichte des Buchdrucks und eine Besonderheit der Buchkunst des frühen 16. Jahrhunderts!
