Knights Templar

1890s, Museum Quality, Skull, Pennsylvania Jewel

Up for auction is this fine, vintage Knights Templar jewel in a high quality silver.

This jewel is quite unique and is the first of its kind I have had.  The top name bar reads Kutchinson in a nice script of black enamel.  A keystone sits in the middle at the top.  Two chains connect this bar to a triangle shape.  Raised above the back piece, in the center, is a cross with a 32 above.  I assume this is a commandry number.  Atop that is a crown and slanted red enamel cross.  To one side is a very detailed Skull & Cross bones and the other side has a lamp.  The back is engraved "Wm. F. Slingluff , Norristown, Pa."  I googled William Slingluff and found him to be a fun one to research as he was involved in banking in his hometown.  This uses a period T-bar pin into a C-clasp.  The piece is in stunning condition, with a nice patina.  It weighs in at a hefty 22.6 grams and stands 2 9/16" (65.2mm) tall.

It has a rich patina which demonstrates its very dignified age.
