wormery wormery
Wormcity Wormeries

Go Green this year with our amazing wormeries. Compost your leftover food scraps, newspapers, even the contents of your vacuum cleaner bag !
What's more the worm castings (worm poo) and leachate (liquid fertiliser) that come from the wormery are the best composts that money can buy !! Great for your indoor and outdoor plants.
Our wormeries can be put next to the kitchen door, simply throw all your scraps into it, and watch your little friends munch away (well maybe don't watch - could get a trifle dull !!)
Flat or mansion, town or country it doesn't matter where you live - you will have room for a wormery
Kids love them - fun and fascinating, and very educational too !!
Here at Wormcity we sell a selection of wormeries at prices to fit all pockets.
and they are all available for dispatch within 24 hours of ordering.
Each wormery comes complete with worm food, bedding, instructions and of course the worms

Wormcity Wormeries
At wormcity we have trialed out all the leading competitors brands, and then based on our findings tried to make something superior, yet cheaper - this is what we discovered

Surface area - not depth is crucial - the more surface area, the more air, the quicker the food composts down, and the quicker your worms feed and breed. Dustbin type wormeries are ok, but for a novice user they need careful handling so that your food doesn't go rotten and smelly

Stacking wormeries - must have the bins sliding down inside each other, if they sit on top (like some competitors) then it creates huge problems. As the food composts down, it looses volume, and a gap appears above the food, worms cannot jump into the next layer, so the mesh base must stay in contact with the food below at all times.

Wormcity Wormeries, fulfil both the criteria above, great air flow, and composting trays that sit inside, so that the worms can get to the next layer !!

At Wormcity We also believe that composting should be affordable for everyone. You can make your own wormery, but you will still need to buy the housing , worms etc.  Therefore we have come up with a solution with the ecowormery.
The Ecowormery is a fully functional wormery, that works perfectly without the huge price tag.
Look at our feedback - you can see how happy our customers are with our products

wormery wormery
Introducing The Wormcity Wormery

wormcity wormeryNew to the market is the Wormcity Wormery.

Designed and produced in England from recycled UV protected plastic, this wormery is both functional and attractive.

It can be placed anywhere in your home or garden (though not in full sun) and will create an attractive focal point that will be sure to get all your neighbours talking (and wanting one !).

Stacking wormeries are proven to be much easier to manage than 'dustbin' type wormeries. Not only are they more beneficial to the worms (increased air flow and surface area) but they are easier to manage and empty.

The Wormcity Wormery is an easy to use stacking wormery, the basic model comprises of the following

3 x Composting Trays 25.2 Litres (75.6 Litres Total)
1 x Sump (for Liquid Collection)
1 x Sump Tray
1 x Base Unit Stand
1 x Easy Turn Tap and Back Nut
1 x Lid
2 x Screws and Wing nuts
1 x Coir Block (Makes 9 Litres of Initial Bedding)
Mixed Composting Worms
250g Worm Food
Instructions
Colour =Black

Basically each composting tray has small holes in the base, and as composting worms are surface wormcity wormerydwellers, they continuously move upwards in search of new food.
This means that the worms eat all the food and venture into the upper trays leaving the vermicompost (worm poo) behind.
This compost can then be removed placed on your garden and the empty tray placed back on the top.

The Wormcity Wormery comes with a 5 year manufacturers guarantee and a "no quibble" return if your not entirely happy with this outstanding wormery.

Why You Should Buy The Wormcity ® Wormery

wormery wormery
True 25 Litre Per Tray Size

wormeryIn a wormery size really DOES matter.
Each tray in the Wormcity Wormery holds 25.2 Litres of waste. We haven't falsely increased the size to make it look bigger and better (like some of our competitors who sell a similar product whose trays are only 15.7 litres in size)
The size quoted is the true size per tray.
Each tray has handles to make lifting and emptying easier.
Each tray is 43cms wide x 43cms long, and 17cm high

wormery wormery
Specially Designed Drown Proof Sump
wormeryAlthough composting worms are surface eaters and therefore travel upwards in search of food, they do occasionally fall downwards into the sump, where they would normally drown and die.

Our sump has been specially designed (with steps) so that if any worms fall downwards they can easily clamber back up to safety.

The worm tea liquid is channeled to the tap for easy emptying. The sump holds approx 9 litres of liquid

wormery wormery
Strong Base - Will Not Collapse
wormeryThe Wormcity Wormery is screwed onto a base unit. This stops the wormery from sliding off or falling apart when the trays are lifted.

The base is very strong and will not warp or bend and will prevent the wormery from toppling over

wormery wormery
Trays Rest On The Food Below
wormeryThe trays have been designed so that they slide down inside each other.

As the worms eat the food and produce vermicompost (worm poo) the volume in the tray decreases, therefore if the trays don't slide down properly - a space is created between the layers which would prevent the worms from climbing upwards into the next tray.
Worms cannot jump !

wormery wormery
Designed And Manufactured By Wormcity Ltd
wormeryWith many years of worm composting experience behind us, we took note of all the good and bad features of our competitors wormeries and suggestions made by our customers.

We wanted to produce a wormery that hadn't been imported from Australia, America or China.

We wanted to produce a wormery that was strong, easy to manage and aesthetically pleasing.

We wanted to produce a wormery that was big enough for family use, with a decent surface area that would produce happy worms and make great vermicompost.

We wanted to make a wormery that was affordable - Just because it is cheaper does NOT make the Wormcity wormery inferior to its competitors.

So... We Created The Wormcity Wormery.

What Is A Wormery ?

A Wormery is a plastic or wooden container that contains composting worms.
A compost worm differs from a normal garden worm in that it eats and lives on the decaying foods on the surface, whereas a garden worm burrows deep into the ground
A Wormery is easy and fun to use, simply add your worms then your waste food, and after a few months your worms will have eaten it all and left behind a fantastic fertiliser called vermicompost, which is very high in nutrients.
A Wormery is a fantastic and fun way to get children interested in recycling and worm composting.
Children love worms; they enjoy getting their hands dirty by messing around with soil and holding the slimy, wriggling creatures !!

What Can I Feed Them ?
Anything you eat, The best results our obtained from soft organic waste such as left over vegetable scraps, fruit and vegetable peelings, tea leaves/bags and coffee grounds, vacuum dust and hair (including animal) shredded newspaper, egg box type cardboard (pre-soaked), newspaper, crushed egg shells and stale bread. The greater the variety of organic waste the better the resultant worm castings will be.
Worms cannot eat material such as glass metal or plastics. You should also avoid some organic material such as animal manure (the animal may have been 'wormed' and the residue can kill your worms) highly acidic fruit such as citrus fruits and onions should be avoided. Also avoid meat and bones - garlic and spicy foods, eggs (egg shells are excellent) and dairy products

Dog / Cat waste - You can use your wormery to compost cat or dog poo, however the following guidelines must be followed
1) Wait at least a week after worming your animal, before you use the poo.
2) The vermicompost produced must not be used to grow food
3) The vermicompost must not be used anywhere children play.
Cat & Dog poo contain harmful pathogens, which will continue to live in the soil after it has been converted to vermicompost

How much waste will the system compost?
Worms can eat up to half their own body weight every day and can double their population every 60-90 days. If you start your wormery with 500g of mature worms they will consume up to 250g of food waste per day (in ideal conditions). After a few months you should have double your population and you can feed them more. As you become familiar with your system you will learn their rate of food consumption.

Why do wormeries have a tap
Worms breathe through a layer of moisture on their skin and therefore the contents of the wormery should be kept moist (not wet) at all times. The sump is there to collect any excess liquid. As it passes through the bin this liquid becomes charged with nutrients and therefore makes an excellent plant feed. The tap is there to help you collect it. Dilute with 10 parts water and use it to feed your plants for free!

What if I go on holiday ?
Worm sitters will not be be required when you go on holiday, as the worms will be happy munching away for a few weeks before they will need feeding again. They are really easy creatures to look after !!

Questions and answers about this item
Q: I have been looking at your wormery, the wormworks and the worm hut. Can you tell me the difference between them. Im looking to buy for christmas and want the biggest one. Thanks
A: Hi Thanks for your question, although I have never seen the Wormhut wormery, I can categorically state that the Wormcity Wormery is vastly bigger in volume than the WormWorks wormery. The wormworks trays each hold 15 litres... Continue reading
