Extremely
useful and very reasonably-priced full-colour 8-page booklet showing you how to
deal with both surface rust and perforating rust (i.e. rust that has gone right
through) on just about any car with a steel body. You can see more information on our
website if interested. I am not allowed to link directly to the website, but I
am an old car restorer specializing particularly in rust, and the website URL is
shown on the front of the booklet. On the website you can see pictorial
sequences showing some of the recent work we have done, and the booklet basically
takes you through the process of fixing rust on your car step by step,
explaining and illustrating each stage in the sequence. I have now sold over 250 of these booklets, and they have been extremely well received except for one person who thought that the booklet related to his particular car (it doesn’t – the reason I have put the car makes in the title is to act as keywords for eBay searches, rather than because the booklet relates specifically to them). It shows how to fix rust on any car, and uses close-ups of rust repairs to illustrate the processes. The parts shown are not specific to a particular car and have been selected especially because they are common rust areas and have a wide application. I have put a low-res scan of a couple of the pages in with the item description of the booklet in the Lancia category (Item No. 360187553456), so please have a look at that auction if you would like to see how the booklet takes you right through the repair sequence, showing a photo and description of each stage, and also some of the cars I have worked on, so that you can see that my methods work! I also have a supplementary email giving details of how to remove rust from under windscreen gaskets and rubber seals, and I send that out free of charge to people who have bought the booklet if they are interested (it is going to be the first chapter of Book 2, but I haven’t had time to write it yet!). The booklet concentrates on panels that have to be saved, rather than just cut out and replaced (i.e. it is not a handbook on welding in new metal). This booklet shows you how to get rid of rust from an existing panel and treat and paint it so that the rust stays away for as long a period as possible. It is an ideal handbook for someone who is repairing one of the rarer kinds of classic cars where panels aren't easily available and you have to save what you've got! Most cars have their problem areas (e.g. Hillman Super Minx front wheel arches and bonnet front edges, Ford Anglia 105E front wing tops and in the middle of the doors where the window drop mechanism attaches, Morris Minor front wings at the back edge, Ford 100E front wing bottoms, Minis along the seams and at the top back edge of the front wings, etc., etc., etc.). My record for a long-lasting repair so far is 33 years - I still have the Ford 100E that I was given for my 18th birthday, and most of the rust I treated on that in 1976 hasn't returned, despite the car spending at least 20 of the 33 years outside! I have worked on all of the above cars and types of rust, and many more, so I can truly say that I bring a wealth of knowledge (and enthusiasm - I HATE rust!) to my specialism! I have repaired many, many kinds of car over the last 33 years, both for myself as an enthusiast and as a repairer on customers' cars, and I think very, very hard about why and how the rust got there, and how to prevent it returning. Now, for the first time, I am sharing my experience, to help those who would like to have a go at fixing their own rust. Please
contact me if you would like further information or details. If you buy the
booklet it will be posted in a very high-quality board-backed envelope within
2-3 days of payment. Inside the UK the booklet will be sent by first class post, and outside the UK it will be sent by uninsured airmail
letter post. Thanks for reading this and best wishes - Alan On 28-Aug-09 at 21:53:58 BST, seller added the following information:
