Killigrew RN

Published by Headline, 2000.

1847.  Despite the best efforts of the Royal Navy, transatlantic slavers continue to make vast profits from the illegal trade.  Idealistic young naval officer Kit Killigrew believes the Navy will always be fighting a losing battle while loop-holes in a complex system of international laws protect those who deal in human flesh.

With the aid of Rear-Admiral Sir Charles Napier, Killigrew hatches a daring plan to infiltrate the slavers and discover the whereabouts of the biggest slave market in West Africa, owned by shadowy megalomaniac Francisco Salazar.  But by far the most dangerous part of Kit’s mission will be to find out the identity of the British Establishment figure whom Napier is convinced is one of the slave trade’s major investors.  Already the veteran of campaigns in Syria and China, Killigrew sets out on a perilous adventure which sweeps him from the glittering ballrooms of Mayfair to an explosive climax in the jungles of the Guinea Coast.

Killigrew RN is a tale of swashbuckling adventure on the high seas, introducing a flamboyant and unorthodox hero of the Victorian era.

Killigrew & the Incorrigibles

Published by Headline, 2002.

1850.  Seven of Norfolk Island’s most notorious criminals have escaped.  Kit Killigrew and the crew of HMS Tisiphone give chase, eventually tracking them down in the New Hebrides, where a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues.  Also in the islands is an elusive figure who has made his fortune from a barbaric trade and is desperate to avoid discovery.  Killigrew is about to face his most ruthless opponents yet.  But he remains dangerously distracted by the recent tragedy that plays upon his conscience, and his state of mind threatens to achieve what cannibals, prisoners on the run and a vicious trader cannot, as he places himself in the line of danger once too often …

Killigrew and the Incorrigibles is the third book in Jonathan Lunn’s series featuring the unconventional naval hero Kit Killigrew RN.  The series has been widely praised.
