Joe, Sam, Pete, the Bruvvers and guests in the studio. Performing live, all tracks off the acclaimed album 'Down To Earth. Extras include interview with Bob Harris, photo gallery and off set footage. Really is a fun package. A British national treasure. Joe Brown is one of the original British Rock & Roll Stars. One of the first UK session men, his early career highlights include playing guitar with Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash and other US stars when they came over to Europe. Joe went on to top the charts with his own records, had The Beatles open shows for him and in a career packed with musical highlights has also appeared in six motion pictures, written his autobiography presented several series of the Joe Brown Show on UK National TV, presented two series of the Let It Rock Show for BBC Radio 2, influenced many of the upper echelon of UK Rock guitarists and still finds time to do around 100 live shows a year in the UK. In 2002 he appeared at the Concert For George to honour the life and memory of his dear friend George Harrison and earlier that year was acclaimed for his performance at the Glastonbury Festival. Joe’s last two albums (“Hitting The Hi Spots” & “Down To Earth”) have been met with much critical acclaim. Indeed, the latter is considered his best ever studio album. This DVD is a studio performance of “Down To Earth” and features Joe’s Bruvvers (Phil Capaldi, Neil R.Gauntlett and Dave Rico Nilo.), daughter Sam, son Pete and step-daughter Mollie Marriott plus a special appearance of Dave Peacock (Chas and Dave) and also features drummer Richard Newman & harmonica player Mitt Gamon . Extra’s include an interview with Bob Harris, digicam footage shot backstage during the recording and a photo gallery. Over 2 hours of material. For me, Joe has always been a guitar player first and all the rest has been secondary. I must say he appears to me at his happiest as a musician, playing the guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and fiddle and composing songs. It is a pleasure to know him mostly on that level, though I would add that he is also not bad with an old joke or two or three. - George Harrison 1986 With his latest recordings, Joe Brown makes his love for all roots- based music as apparent today as it was when I saw him opening for Del Shannon at Newcastle City Hall at the beginning of the 60s. A multi-instrumentalist and always one of the best guitar players around, he is the genuine article - a bona fide British rocker and born entertainer whose roots go back beyond the UK skiffle boom to music hall, early folk music and the Mississippi Delta. - Mark Knopfler 2006 Tracklisting: Well Well Well One Trick pony Reuben Gallows Pole The Dimming Of The Day As The Crow Flies Ghost Lazybones Black Betty Blood Is Thicker Than Water Malt N Barley Blues All Worked Out Uncle Penn Extras – Bob Harris interview, backstage footage, photo gallery.
