Japanses wooden sculpture Shishi-gashira(lion head) for Shishi-mai.

This shishigashira(lion head) is very small. because This is for dedicateing to shrine.

SHISHI-MAI
Performed as a prayer for a good harvest and household safety for the year.
People use Shishimai when they pray for a good harvest,
to purify their spirit and to drive out evil spirits.
Shishimai is the Japanese Lion Dance. This Lion dance
came from China many year ago and the Japanese have developed their own style.
There are many different kinds of Shishimai dance in Japan depending on the region.
As well the style of the Lion is different.
Usually Japanese Drums provide the music for the dance.
Shishimai dances are usually held in the spring and fall.
This is related to bringing in a good harvest.
There are also Shishimai dances around the new year.
