Japanese Antique Choba Dansu Merchant's Chest

This is an original Japanese Choba Dansu circa 1870, not a reproduction.  Purchased from Tansu.co.uk.  Comes with original Tansu.co.uk  Certificate of Authenticity.

This antique chest is made from Hinoki and Surgi woods, with iron carrying handles and iron hardware.  All original, no repairs. This is a true antique furniture piece and reflects its character and authenticity which makes it a very appealing addition to any home.  A beautiful antique piece of furniture at a very good price.

Choba Dansu roughly translates to mean merchants chest.  Originally created for function and portability, this type of chest also reflects the master craftmanship and aesthetic sensibility found in the finest japanese art and design.  The chest includes multiple compartments and sliding doors and drawers - all in working order. In the bottom right corner are 3 small hidden drawers behind the hinged door.
