The Magic Cottage by James Herbert
We had enough of the rate race. The city was closing in on us with concrete jaws. We'd accumulated too many acquaintances and not enough friends. So Midge and I found a place in the heart of a forest. The cottage was charmingly quaint - maybe a little run-down, but that was easy to fix - and it was peaceful. The setting was perfect for her as an artist, and good for me as a musician. Midge loved it, I quickly grew to love it.
But, you guessed it - nothing was quite as it seemed. . .
