Georgian Sterling Silver Two  Handled Loving Cup 

Made in London, by Jacob Marsh, in 1774. 

A Very Good Hand Raised Georgian Silver Cup.  Made by in London, in 1774, by Jacob Marsh.  A Charming Two Handled Loving Cup of Very Good Weight.  With a reeded girdle on a domed pedestal foot.  Initialled on one handle I*M (same as makers mark).  This cup of great interest as the engraved initials are same as the makers mark with a central fleuron in both the engraved initilas and in the makers mark. Look identical. Seems to be very good chance that the maker made this loving cup for his own use.         

Jacob Marsh apprenticed to William Lukin.30 September 1726. Miriam daughter was born and baptised 17 August 1745 (presumably died at birth). A second Miriam was born to them 4 September 1746.   

Condition:

The Marks:   Good.  Makers mark stamped on underside and unusually also to each handle.

The Cup:  Very Good.  No Splits, dents or repairs.  Sits flat.
