Joseph Hocking, 1860-1937, author and clergyman preacher, born in Cornwall, son of the overseer of a tin mine, brother to the authors Silas and Salome Hocking, and father of the mystery writer Anne Hocking.
His novels include Cornish stories, mystery and crime, war, and pioneering historical romance.

This is an undated circa 1910 reprint of his story of a young London politician and his fall from grace, a tale of romance and deceit and his retreat to a Devonshire village.

430 Pages plus 4 full page illustrations by Charles Morrell.
