Joseph Hocking, 1860-1937, author and clergyman preacher, born in Cornwall, son of the overseer of a tin mine, brother to the authors Silas and Salome Hocking, and father of the mystery writer Anne Hocking.
His novels include Cornish stories, mystery and crime, war, and pioneering historical romance.

This is one of Hocking's novels set in Cornwall.

A solid binding with slight wear and bumped to bottom front corner (see image).
