QUINTESSENTIAL BRITISH progressive rock - arguably Jethro Tull's finest hour and an album that fuses brutal heavy rocking with trad English folk fair. Ian Anderson is wonderfully evocative both lyrically and vocally pushing the Tull envelope to the max. The brilliant title track sets the scene but even this is eclipsed by other songs such as 'Cross Eyed Mary', 'My God', 'Mother Goose' and the proto metal of 'Locomotive Breath'.

This is an album that Tull, and in particular Ian Anderson, could never quite surpass, despite some valiant efforts.

This is a genuine first pressing - signified by the presence of an inner lyric sleeve and black gothic style text on labels. Later copies dismissed with all these attributes.

Pressing: Chrysalis, UK, 1971 - green label, black gothic lettering

Vinyl: Superb clean condition. A couple of spindle marks and only minor signs of use. Displays some hairline scuffs due to sliding in and out of the printed inner lyric sleeve. Grades as MINT-!

Cover: Again, minimal signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated soft textured gatefold cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is firm and uncrushed. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 38 years after release. Grades as MINT-!

I very rarely list records that are in any way scratched- they go in the trash- and I will only list a scratched record if scarcity dictates otherwise but with full disclosure. Often vinyl display 'scuffs' which are surface marks (mostly caused by sliding in and out of the inner sleeve or careless handling) but NOT scratches and they do not have any effect on playback. If the vinyl has a scuff I will try and mention it. Even my Vg+ records are way better than most gradings on ebay- check my feedback for vindication.Gradings are cover/vinyl. All records are sold as-is that means no refunds or returns except in very rare circumstances. I am not a lending libary so don't ask for a refund (I've been burn't in the past with people buying records, taping or CD-Ring and then returning them and I've also had scratched records returned in place of clean albums).
