JB Models 1/76 M113 Fire Support Version

Brand new and unbuilt.

The M113 was the result of a mid-1950's US requirement for a lightweight, armoured infantry vehicle. Production began in the 1960s, since when 70,000 have been built and exported to nearly 50 countries.

The Fire Support version arose from experience during the Vietnam war and the need to improve the firepower of the M113. A number of different turrets were tried and it was the Australians that opted for the turret from the obsolete Saladin armoured car which was fitted to 18 M113. This variant was eventually adopted as the M113 Fire Support Version.

The addition of the turret resulted in additional wear on the running gear and bouyancy problems.  

Many other variants of the M113 have been produced including a mortar carrier, command vehicle, anti aircraft and flame thrower versions.

Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a classic. Not to be missed.
