This is a half plate camera made by the respected manufacturer J Lancaster and Son. It is fitted with a Thornton Pickard patent Time and Inst shutter which works on the Inst but not the Time setting. The Busch Rapid Symmetrical lens has a maximum aperture of F8 and the iris closes smoothly to F45. There is some delamination covering about half the circumference of the front elements to a depth of about 1-2 mm and a small amount of fungus between the rear elements but otherwise the lens is clear. The camera comes with a focussing screen which clips to the back of the camera and pivots smoothly and two wooden double dark slides which still slide. The rack and pinion works smoothly.
Time has taken its toll on the camera. There are two brass knobs missing, one on the rising front and the other from the side of the lens panel, one of the two that hold this panel vertical. One of the side supports for this panel is also partly fractured. All of the other knobs that control the camera movements are present. There is some serious staining at one corner of the wooden baseplate, shown in the photos, and the bellows not only sag but have small holes at the creases which seem to have been covered with sticky tape at some time in the past.
The camera will be dispatched first class and covered by insurance. The postal charge quoted is for the UK only, overseas bidders should contact me about postage before bidding. I will accept payment by Paypal, personal cheque, which will be cleared before the goods are dispatched, or cash on collection.
If you feel the description of the camera is unfair, I will refund the purchase price, but not the postage, if the camera is returned undamaged, at your cost, within 7 days.
