Maxell Ipod docking station is an amazing product crammed with
excellent features one of which is wireless operation. The 2.4Ghz
wireless unit is connected to your Ipod or MP3, the wireless mode
selected on the unit and your Ipod will play on the unit with no wired
connection for clear and uninterrupted music. 2.4Ghz wireless has an
effective distance of 20 metres over an uninterrupted space! This means that if you had the unit in a bedroom you could have the Ipod in bed with you, choose the tracks and they would play through the unit across the room from the Ipod, you can then control the volume from the remote. Normally when the Ipod is docked you could only select track forward and back with wireless you are in control, with the Ipod in your hand! The Ipod can also be docked directly into the unit where it will recharge the battery and control the Ipod from the remote control. The remote has play, track forward, track backward, volume, mode selection, mute and on/off function. The unit is powered by a mains DC 12V adaptor with a UK plug fitting, it is not battery powered. An additional 'line-in' function makes connection of other MP3 units possible. The unit is also wall mountable, the base is unscrewed and replaced on the back of the unit, it can then be hooked onto 2 screw heads in the wall, giving a very attractive B&O type look! The unit measures 60cm or 23.5" from end to end. I have fully tested the dock and it is impressive, it is very easy to set up, the wireless setup is as easy as plugging the wireless unit into the Ipod and selecting wireless mode which is indicated on the dock with a blue light. When the Ipod is directly connected a green light is visible on the unit. The sound quality is superb, there is great depth of sound, good bass and a good general clarity of sound. The remote works over a good distance as well and is easy to use.
