Fore Sale: Infrant ReadyNAS 600/X6 (2005). RAID home / small business file server - barebones (no hard drives installed). This is the original version of the Netgear (Infrant) ReadyNAS X6 / 600. It has the same or similar hardware as other Sparc-based ReadyNAS servers. It also has a PCI slot and a Compact Flash replaceable memory for storing the OS (unlike newer models that lack the PCI slot and have flash memory soldered onto the main board). On several occasions, this server's RAID saved me from losing all of my family pictures and other valuable files when one of the hard drives failed. This server's RAID format is fully compatible with newer servers (ReadyNAS Duo, NV, NV+); therefore, when you are ready to upgrade to a newer model, all you will have to do is to pop your hard drives in one of these models, and the OS will come up on the new machine. Nearly every feature available on the newer servers made by Netgear is also available on this RAID server except for scheduled power-up. All the new releases of the firmware support this model. · Total storage capacity currently supported on this NAS is 8 TB, using four 2-TB SATA hard drives. · Web-based Graphical User Interface. · Configurable RAID levels: RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, X-RAID. Automatically expands the size of the RAID volume (in the X-RAID mode) when more drives are added (horizontally) or when existing drives are replaced with larger-capacity drives (vertically). · Supports Windows, Linux, and Mac OS clients using CIFS/SMB, NFS, and AFP network file protocols for file sharing over LAN. · Several built-in media servers, including iTunes, and Squeezebox Server (www.logitechsqueezebox.com) for streaming music and video. Check out Squeezebox devices made by Logitech! · Integrated Time Machine server for backups and restores over the network (wireless or wired) for Macs. See my other Ebay auction (180428127682) for the like-new Macbook Air. · Built-in USB print server. · Backs up to external hard drives for off-site storage. · Supports graceful shutdown when plugged into a UPS. · Replicates to another server using RSYNC and Secure RSYNC · Sends email notification in case hard drive failure, loss of line power, and other events. · Can be configured to automatically shut down in case of a hard drive failure to preserve the degraded RAID volume from additional hard drive failures. · Supports SSH, FTP, FTPS, SFTP, WebDAV. · Provides secure access to files from the Internet. · Enjoys developer community and free third-party applications (check out www.readynas.com/forum). · Runs modified distribution of Debian Linux and provides root access to the OS via SSH Please review my feedback and bid with confidence! You have an option of having two 250 GB Seagate SATA drives installed in this server with the RAID level of your preference (X-RAID, RAID 0, RAID 1) initialized for $50 extra. |
