Wu Zi Pills or Wu Zi Yan Zong Wan originates from the Tang dynasty in 855 A.D.  It was developed by Zhang Gou Lao, a Taoist, who gave this secret recipe to Emperor Tang Xuan Zong. It has been a popular herb with the Royal Court ever since.

Wu Zi means in Chinese means five kinds of plant or fruit seed, and Yan Zong means ‘to procreate’. Wan simply means ‘pills’. There are five kinds of plant seeds in this recipe. Traditional Chinese medicine teaches that plant seeds contain the basic materials needed to multiply life. They can thus make sperm (male seeds) stronger and improve fertility. Ingredients:  Each Wu Zi Pill contains Lycium, (a Chinese fruit, Cuscuta chinensis seed, Rubus chingii fruit, Plantago asiatica seed, and Schisandra chinensis fruit. In Chinese these are called Gou qi zi, Tu si zi, Fu pen zi, Che qian zi, and Wu wei zi.
