A brand new 176-page SB book entitled GREAT FIRES OF LONDON by Neil Wallington.
Using over 300 vivid photographs, Great Fires of London tells the fascinating and dramatic story of the London Fire Brigade, from its origins in 1833, right through to its work in the twenty-first century. This account recalls the days of primitive manually pumped fire engines, dashing horse-drawn steam pumps and their brass-helmeted crews, and the arrival of the first motor engines. The fiery days of the London blitz are remembered when firemen withstood fifty-seven continuous nights of aerial bombardment. Over 170 seperate firefighting and rescue incidents are graphically illustrated and described, ranging from the huge fire at the Palace of Westminster in 1834 through to the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster of 1999. So, too, are a wide range of other fires and human emergencies, including road, rail and air crashes, spillages of dangerous chemicals, explosions, and the aftermath of freak weather conditions. With a foreword by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, this superbly evocative album not only portrays the eventual history of the London Fire Brigade, but also provides a remarkable insight into London's social history since Victorian times. Great Fires of London is Neil Wallington's tenth book, and reflects his own experiences over a distinguished thirty year fighting career, including sixteen years' action in the London Fire Brigade.

NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE – The vast majority of eBay members that we trade with are 100% genuine and committed to following through with their purchases. There are however, some people that seem to live in a complete fantasy dreamworld (thinking they are members of the SAS, Parachute Regiment, VC or Gallantry Medal Winners, VIP’s, Celebrities etc), OR – they just bid on things “For a Laugh” and then string you along with a long list of excuses for non-payment! Please note that we will not tolerate this type of “bidder”, and do NOT want the hassle of trading with them. We believe it's only fair to expect payment within 14 days from the auction's finish, and would encourage buyers to ensure payment by this date. We WILL file a “Non-Paying-Bidder” Alert Form if payment is not received, and we WILL report time-wasters to eBay. If you have any problems with fulfilling this criteria PLEASE DO NOT BID ON OUR AUCTIONS. We are sorry to have to add this to my listing, but we’ve found it necessary - as it seems there are a small proportion of people that come onto eBay with the sole purpose of wanting to ruin things for everyone else. Good luck, and we look forward to trading with you in the near future.
