DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
You will need:
JetStream dark T Shirt dark transfer paper, an ink-jet printer, a domestic iron or commercial heat press and a flat, hard and smooth surface to iron on (do not use an ironing board), a sheet of greaseproof paper (supplied) and a suitable item to transfer onto, such as a black or dark-coloured T-shirt, baseball cap, boxer shorts, cloth-covered mousepad, cotton napkins, handkerchiefs, etc.
1. Printing
-
Store JetStream dark T Shirt transfer paper in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.
-
Only print onto the unprinted, coated side of the transfer paper. Print as for normal prints, do not use "mirror image" mode. Use single sheet feed only.
-
Printer settings: Normal Paper using best available print quality.
-
After printing, leave image to dry for approx. 5 minutes. Cut out the motif without leaving a margin around the edge.
-
Unprinted areas will transfer as white. If you want the fabric to show through the unprinted areas, cut these out also.
-
Once you have finished cutting out the image, remove the backing paper.
-
Tip: First print the desired motif onto standard paper to check that the colour and size are correct.
2. Transferring
-
Prepare a stable, heat-resistant surface suitable for ironing on. A towel on a kitchen table is ideal. Do not use an ironing board, these are normally padded and are too soft for this application.
-
Preheat the iron to the highest setting (takes approx. 5-10 minutes). Recommended ironing temperature: 210°C (410 °F). Do NOT use travel irons, they do not have enough heating capacity for this application.
-
You can also use a commercial heat press. Recommended transfer temperature: 200°C (392°F). Press for approx. 10 seconds.
-
Briefly iron or press the fabric to ensure that it is completely smooth, then place the transfer film onto it with the printed image facing upwards. If using a domestic iron, do not use steam.
-
Cover the transfer with the greaseproof paper. Iron using medium pressure. Warm up the transfer evenly with slow, circular movements from edge to edge and make sure that the heat is evenly transferred over the whole area of the image. Don't forget the corners and edges.
- Iron for a maximum of 4 minutes for a full A4 print. For smaller images, iron for a shorter time eg., for an A6 image iron for 1 minute.
- Allow the transfer to cool for 1 minute, then peel off the greaseproof paper in a smooth, even movement. The greaseproof paper can be re-used several times.
3. Washing
- Wait 24 hours before washing for the first time (curing time).
- Fabrics bearing dark t-shirt transfers are machine-washable up to 30° C. Always wash garments inside out.
- Do not use aggressive washing detergents or bleach of any kind.
- Air dry only - Do not tumble-dry.
- Avoid ironing directly over the transferred motif. Iron on the reverse side.
- Tip: You can revive the colours after several washings by ironing the transfer again. Cover the image again with greaseproof paper, iron for a few seconds and then allow to cool before removing the greaseproof paper.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
You will need:
JetStream T Shirt transfer paper, an ink-jet printer, a domestic iron or commercial heat press and a flat, hard and smooth surface to iron on (do not use an ironing board), a sheet of standard white copy paper and a suitable item to transfer onto, such as a white or pastel-coloured T-shirt, baseball cap, boxer shorts, cloth-covered mousepad, cotton napkins, handkerchiefs, etc.
1. Printing
-
Store JetStream T Shirt transfer paper in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.
-
Only print onto the unprinted, coated side of the transfer paper. Select the "mirror image" mode on your printer. Use single sheet feed only.
-
Printer settings: Transfer Paper Mode, if available, or Normal Paper using best print quality.
-
After printing, leave image to dry for approx. 5 minutes. Cut out the motif, leaving a narrow margin of 1-3 mm around the edge.
-
Tip: First print the desired motif onto standard paper to check that the colour and size are correct and that the motif is reversed for correct printing onto the garment.
2. Transferring
-
Prepare a stable, heat-resistant surface suitable for ironing on. A towel on a kitchen table is suitable.
-
Preheat the iron to the highest setting (takes approx. 5-10 minutes). Recommended ironing temperature: 210°C (410 °F). Do NOT use travel irons, they do not have enough heating capacity for this application.
-
You can also use a commercial heat press. Recommended transfer temperature: 200°C (392°F). Press for approx. 18 seconds.
-
Briefly iron or press the fabric to ensure that it is completely smooth, then place the transfer film onto it with the printed image facing downwards. If using a domestic iron, do not use steam.
-
Iron the transfer paper, applying as much pressure as possible. When moving the iron to a new area, less pressure should be used. Don't forget the corners and edges.
-
Continue ironing until the green circle has changed to the same orange colour as the iron symbol that is printed on the backing paper. In order to guarantee a perfect transfer, at least 90 % of the green area must change colour.
-
Possible brownish discolouration of the white areas of the backing paper will not affect the quality of the transfer in any way.
-
In order to achieve a matt finish, remove the backing paper while it is still hot. Peel away from the fabric in a smooth, even movement, starting from one corner.
-
For a glossy finish, allow the transfer to cool, then peel off the backing paper in a smooth, even movement, starting from one corner.
3. Fixing
- The fixing process removes any surplus ink from the transfer and gives the transfer a fabric-like texture.
- Matt finish: Allow the transfer to cool, then cover with a sheet of standard, white copy paper and press once again with the iron for 5-10 seconds. Immediately remove the paper while it is still hot.
- Glossy finish: As above, except use greaseproof paper instead of copy paper and only remove when cold.
4. Washing
- Wash the garment before using.
- Wait 24 hours before washing for the first time (curing time).
- Fabrics bearing transfers are machine-washable up to 40° C. Always wash garments inside out.
- Do not use aggressive washing detergents or bleach of any kind.
- Air dry only - Do not tumble-dry.
- Avoid ironing directly over the transferred motif. Cover first with a sheet of white copier paper, a sheet of greaseproof paper or iron on the reverse side.
- Tip: You can revive the colours after several washings by repeating the fixing process (see point 3 above).
