Book Description: Rivington et Alia, London, 1772. Full Calf. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Second Edition. 4to - 11.5 Inches. Six volumes uniformly bound in contemporary tan speckled calf, rebacked with 20th century calf spines with gilt titles on red morocco spine labels. Minor scuff to foot of one spine. Otherwise minor shelfwear only. Armorial bookplate of George Scott to front pastedown. All plates in very tidy condition with no tears. Internally very clean with scarcely any blemishes or foxing. 24 plates on 16 leaves plus frontispiece, complete as called-for. Vol I - Portrait frontispiece, (2), ccxxxviii, 799 pages + 3 plates on two leaves (1 folding) . Vol II - (2), 640, 633-640, 649-800 pages + 6 plates on 5 leaves (4 folding). Quire E misfolded. Vol III - (2), 803, (1) pages + 8 plates on five folding leaves. Vol IV - (2), 644, 745-821, (1) pages + 6 plates on 3 folding leaves. Text and register continuous despite pagination jump. Vol V - (2), 750 pages + 1 folding plate. Vol VI - (2), 796, (130) pages. Closed tear of 1.5 inches to margin of 4s1. Text complete and continuous despite some pagination anomalies. Overall a very tidy set in very useable condition.
