This is a superb book about the most mysterious, beautiful and magical of fish - the trout. With a foreword by Ted Hughes and lovely full colour and mostly full page illustrations by Alan James Robinson, the book is a complete delight. The author is David Profumo, who gives us a celebration of the life of the trout, focusing on the world under water, lifecycle, literary history - the book ranges from conservation to superstition, to entomology to ritual.
With a green binding and yellow inside cover, the book is in good condition throughout but there is a slight waterstain on the flyleaf. The dustjacket is bright and vivid but slightly scuffed round the edges - doesn't detract in my opinion.
Contents include: The Mystique of Fishing, The Appearance and Variety of Trout, Habitat, Dangers and Life-Cycle, The Trout and the Mayfly Carnival etc. Lots of vivid full colour illustrations. 90 pages. Published by Viking. 12" x 9".
