Hydroplane Racing Florida Emancipator/TipToe 1936 Ad
"Top: A hot finish in the 850 runabout class at the Miami regatta. Above: The 225's put on a spectacular show as the usual Tip Toe, piloted by John Charles Thomas, finishing her race on the Florida circuit with the major honors. The Lycoming powered craft took three out of five races. Right: Emancipator Special, S.M. Auerbach's flyer, handled by Arno Apel, her builder, set a record in the 91 cubic inch class. Below: The Federal-Mogul race, with the Johnson speed cruiser Silver King (1E) in the foreground. Built and raced by Forest E, Johnson of Coconut Grove, this 20-footer, powered with a Gray Fireball, turning a Federal-Mogul Tru-Pitch wheel 4,500 rpm, won all the cruiser races at the Biscayne Bay regatta.
