Does your Range Rover have the infamous hot starting problem!
Do you crank the engine for ages before it fires up when the engine is either warm or hot!
This is a very common issue with the BMW 6 cylinder diesel engine which is fitted in all diesel Range Rovers [P38] manufactured between 1994 to 2001.
Your local Land Rover dealer would charge you a small fortune to sort out this problem however, we can now offer you a simple do-it-yourself alternative. No specialist tools are required and it takes less than 20 minutes to fit. All you have to do is connect 4 wires and we even include the connectors.

Here's a close-up view.
This is a timed relay circuit board.
In brief, it takes the signal from the engine management temperature sender and routes the signal through a resistor, thus fooling the engine management system into thinking the engine is cold even when it's hot.
The result is that the glow plugs are heated & the fuelling is slightly adjusted enabling easy starting every time the engine is fired-up even when hot.
As this is a timed relay circuit board the signal is only routed through the resistor for the first 30 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the relay is then automatically switch off and everything's back to normal. |

Can I use a standard relay!
Others are selling a standard 5 pin relay & a single resistor claiming this to be a hot-fix starting cure.
Well, in the short-term your Range Rover will start on the button when it's hot however, all this does is fools the engine management system into thinking the engine is always cold.
Result: The engine is continuously over-fuelled making the idle speed higher and fuel economy a lot worse, not to mention any long term implications. |
