Fancy a relaxing break amid the beautiful scenery and tranquil surroundings of glorious Mid Wales near the Elan Valley lakes and reservoirs?

For romantic breaks or for adventure filled walking and cycling holidays, Rhayader has it all.  To enjoy it, come and stay in our charming period stone cottage in the heart of the popular tourist market town of Rhayader where you can see the famous Red Kites fly overhead, hear the rushing River Wye crash over the rocks, and where you can breathe in the clear, fresh air.

Kendal House: A semi-detached peiod town house located in a conservation area in an historic part of Rhayader, close to the Waun Capel and Groe parks with their children's play areas and tennis courts, a short distance from all the amenities (chemist, supermarket, grocers, butchers, 10+ pubs and inns) and facilities (well equipped leisure centre with 2 squash courts, swimming pool and jacuzzi, multi-gym etc) in Rhayader (see www.rhayader.co.uk).  

The cottage provides comfortable accommodation as follows: a large farmhouse style kitchen / dining room with fridge, microwave, gas oven (with grill) and four burner hob.  A washing machine, tumble drier and freezer are located in the cellar; lounge with two windows providing lovely double aspect; bathroom with bath (with shower over) wc suite and wash hand basin; a double bedroom and a twin bedroom (bunk beds).  The lounge has a sofa bed that can sleep two persons. 

All usual equipment is provided (pots, pans, crockery, bed linen etc).  Just bring your own towels and personal items.  I'm afraid that we DO NOT accept pets.  Electricity and gas is charged at cost.

Rhayader is an excellent location for birdwatchers, with red kite, peregrine, great crested grebe and many summer migrant song birds breeding in the local area. Other activities such as cycling, pony trekking, walking (www.leapingstiles.co.uk) and fishing can all be enjoyed locally  (www.tourism.powys.gov.uk) .

Rhayader and the Elan Valley

Rhayader is best known to some as gateway to the Elan Valley offering stunning scenery, wonderful walking and some of the best mountain biking routes in the British Isles (www.elanvalley.org.uk). The area is also famed for its rare and beautiful wildlife; most notably the magnificent Red Kites most easily seen at Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre. Throughout the year there are events and activities on offer; walking, running, biking, fishing, motor cross, horse riding, wildlife and birdwatching, photography, arts and crafts, music, dance and drama, shows, festivals and carnival. Rhayader lies in the very heart of Wales, situated in the beautiful Upper Wye Valley, and is sheltered by the Cambrian Mountains. Gilfach Nature Reserve, Signposted off the A470 about 3 miles north of Rhayader Way-marked trails, historic long-house, car park and toilets with facilities for the disabled.
