Hobby Boss 1/72 Morser Karl Gerat 040/041 Late Chassis

This auction is for a brand new kit still sealed in it's plastic bag.
The Morser Karl was a tracked artillery piece armed with a 54cm or 60cm mortar for bombarding heavily fortified positions.
While the mortar was tracked it wieghed 124 tons and could only manage 10 km/h so was only capable of moving very short distances. Typically it was move by rail and reconstructed ready to fire under siege conditions. Initially the mortars were armed with 60cm mortars (040) but in 1942 54cm barrels (041) were produced to increase it's effective range. Shells weighed 2 tons each. Given it's size, range was short at 6,800m for the 60cm and 10,400m for the 54cm. Only 6 were ever built, named Adam, Eva, Thor, Odin, Loki and Ziu.
Initially designed for use against the French Maginot Line, the mortars were moved to the Eastern front and saw action in the siege of Sevastapol in 1942 as well as the Warsaw uprising of 1944.
This model allows for both the 60cm 040 and 54cm 041 models and depicts a later chassis design
