I called this a high security lock for several reasons beyond it being an eight lever padlock when six lever locks were cheaper and much more common.The raised area on the locks back at the point where the key is, has been enlarged to accept an extra lever.This feature is missing from all the other 8 lever locks made a century ago.The brass that this lock is made from was much more expensive than steel,but brass takes weather ans steel won't.This is a huge lock at 3 1/2 inches tall and comes as a working antique with a double bitted barrel key.The original  chain clevis is still here,but the chain it held is long gone.One look at the keyhole tells you that this is not a common keyhole,and has been out of production for almost as long as this pre WW 1 beauty.This lock carries a few minor character marks,gained while providing security,but not many and the photos show a beautiful example of Eagles best from long ago.Made in Terryville,Conn.
