Colour: Mocha (this reminds me of a mocha choc latte) Merino Count: 21 micron/Bradford 64, Staple: 12-15cm 5% Mohair Count (Natural white): 23-27 micron/Bradford 58-60, Staple: 10 - 15cm: Weight: 30g (approx. 30 x 50cm, 11.8 x 19.8 inches) Dear Customer, This is a unique hand carded batt, made by me here in the studio with my carding machine. I've used 3 colours of Merino (Dark Brown, Fawn and Tanned Flesh) and blended them carefully with aproximately 5% Mohair to create this wonderful haze of colours. Blended batts like this are great for feltmaking, spinning or weaving and can be used in different ways each time to create a multitude of blend options in your yarns, weft weaves or felted art. Merino is an ideal quality for both wet or dry needle felting and spinning. Ideal for beginners and those more advanced Merino has a wonderful handle and comes in an array of dyed colours (80+) in my store. Mohair is one of the oldest textile fibres in use. It is both durable and resilient. It is notable for its high lustre and sheen, and is often used in fibre blends to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair also takes dye exceptionally well. Mohair has great insulating properties, making it warm. It is also durable, moisture-wicking, stretch and flame resistant, and crease resistant too. Each batt is a predetermined cut length and take approximately 20-30 minutes to create, so you will need to blend as you work with 2 batches of batts. However, a batt is very versatile and can be gently eased into longer and wider dimensions. You will also find that no two batts are ever the same, as each is handmade it is very hard to exact a look as the fibres are pulled onto the carder. Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences. I have lots more items like this (including other fibres and equipment), so do come in and take a look… I also run a newsletter and group for feltmakers and spinners to learn and share ideas (just email me for details!)
