Hamptons London Victorian Walnut Bookcase ca 1880
This beautiful antique Victorian walnut breakfront bookcase has its original makers stamp ‘Hamptons, Pall Mall, London’. The piece has a breakfront moulded top above a moulded frieze, four glazed doors with beautiful carving, carved corbels, key and working lock. Each interior has three adjustable shelves and the piece stands on a breakfront moulded plinth and the sides have raised fielded panels. The piece has a minor old repair in one corner (not very noticeable), is a rich medium walnut colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Items of this age and quality are becoming very rare to find and they are not just a beautiful piece of furniture but also a very good investment. A piece of furniture of this quality should sell for around £3500. In a London antique shop it would have a price tag of well over £4500.
