Hammered Tudric Pewter Wood Lined Liberty Box This fabulously crafted 9.5cm square hammered pewter box is a lovely example of Art Nouveau pewter work. Uncleaned, with perfect lines and so beautifully balanced that this box will sit with lid opened at an angle without shutting. Art Nouveau wares known as Tudric. This range was created for Liberty by William Haseler from 1903 for a short period. The prices paid for these decorative pieces has rocketed in the last few years. TUDRIC wares were produced using pewter, but a type that had a higher proportion of silver. The most desirable items tend to be those designed for Haseler by Archibald Knox. Most pieces feature an impressed number that helps identification, this box bears the number 01366 The style of this box is such that it enables this box to sit in any Arts and Crafts or even Art Deco home. Suitable for many used this box could be cleaned up to the bright silver colour if desired. |
