This very scrappy Postage Stamp quilt top was made around the turn of the century, and more recently someone started to quilt it, getting it about half finished, using plain muslin backing and a polyester batting. You can either finish quilting it as it was started, or take it apart to reuse the top in another way or quilt it with more age-appropriate cotton batting.
There is a wonderful assortment of fabrics that were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, hundreds of different examples. This is a true "Postage Stamp" size, with each tiny block finishing to only 1 1/8".
The condition is excellent with no stains or holes that I noticed. The piecing was all done by hand. Even though this is a fairly small top, if I counted correctly, there are 3240 individual pieces of fabric in it!
