Why do you need to filter your drinking water?

It is a little known fact that chlorine reacts with organic compounds in your tap water to produce Volatile Organic Compounds. These are dangerous to your health. The Hydropal URBAN filter will remove VOC's

The term Volatile Organic Compound refers to a variety of chemical compounds that contain carbon and evaporate at relatively low temperatures. Drinking water that contains VOCs can increase your risk for a variety of health problems.

FAQ

How long does the filter last before it needs replacing?

The filter lasts for around 6 months or 200 refills before it needs to be replaced, this equates to around 150 litres of water before the filter needs to be replaced.

When will I know the filter needs to be replaced?

Apart from having a rough idea of when you bought the bottle and aiming to replace the filter in 6 months time, you will notice when the filter starts to become less efficient as the filtered taste of water will start to fade. Most noticeably the presence of chlorine will become more apparent in the water again.

Why does coloured water come though the filter when I first use it?

As highlighted in the instructions as the Hydopal bottle uses a carbon filter it must be flushed out properly before use. This can be done by passing 100-200ml of water through the filter and disregarding it in the sink for example.

Can I use my Hydropal bottle when I am holiday to drink foreign water?

You can use the Hydropal bottle wherever you see fit as long as it is from a running water source. We cannot guarantee the quality of the water you will be drinking as water from all over the world has a variety of grades. But for use in European countries Hydropal noticeably improves the taste of the tap water, this is due to most European water being heavily chlorinated to reduce bacteria and this chlorine is filtered out with Hydropal.

Is it safe to drink from a contaminated non-running water source with my Hydropal bottle?

We would only recommend you use Hydropal to filter running water whether it be from a tap in your home or office or even from a stream. To be able to drink from any water source we recommend you purchase the polar pure capsules to accompany any outdoor expedition or adventure. Also With contaminated water due to the recent flooding in the UK.
