"To market, to market, to buy a fat pig!" Carrying a porcine pal in a pack on his back, this little chap makes the journey HOME FROM MARKET!
Inspired by the drawings of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, each delightful figurine tells a story of childhood whether playing at being a grown-up, doing little jobs around the house or enjoying time with animals and friends, each is as captivating as the next.
Produced by the talented sculptors and painters at Goebel, the figurines were first introduced at the Leipzig trade fair in 1936. Throughout her life Sister Maria retained artistic control over the production of the figurines. To this day her drawings are licensed to Goebel by the Franciscan Order of nuns from the Convent of Seissen, just to the west of Munich in Germany.
Her personal motto was I want to bring joy, and testimony to that must surely be the ever-growing community of devoted Hummel collectors around the world.
